Created by curator Huma Kabakcı, Freudian Bites began as a series of small, carefully curated dinners bringing together artists, chefs, and thinkers around a shared table. Each gathering explored how creativity, memory, taste and intimacy unfold through food and conversation. In this podcast, Huma sits down with the collaborators who shaped those evenings. Together they reflect on the ideas, stories, and emotional undercurrents behind each gathering, exploring the relationship between art and food, the power of shared meals, and the subtle Freudian slips that reveal deeper connections.

Huma Kabakci

Huma Kabakcı is a London-based Turkish-British curator, writer, and the host of Freudian Bites. She is the former founding director of Open Space Contemporary and has worked across galleries, museums, biennials, and auction houses in the UK, Turkey, and internationally. Her practice centres on immersive, collaborative formats that explore food, hospitality, memory, and care as critical tools for dialogue. She holds degrees from the London College of Communication and the Royal College of Art, and is currently completing an MA in Anthropology of Food at SOAS, University of London. Through The Freudian Bites podcast, she invites listeners into conversations that unfold between the kitchen and the studio, the personal and the political through food, anthropology and a hint of psychoanalysis.
